Product Introduction

This product is a simple hand brake used in a winch. It's made from steel and mainly by the stamping process. The hand brake is a foundational safety feature that ensures controlled operation and prevents accidents during winch use. Proper understanding of its function, combined with regular maintenance, is essential for maximizing both safety and equipment longevity.

Material and process

This hand brake consists of two main components: the handle (brake handle) and the brake bands.

The handle is constructed from a flat bar and a U joint. The flat bar is formed by stamping carbon steel flat stock, while the U joint is also produced via die stamping. These two components are welded together using a specialized fixture to ensure precise alignment.

The brake bands are made of 65Mn spring steel and require heat treatment. 65Mn is a medium-carbon manganese steel renowned for its balanced combination of strength, hardness, and elasticity. With a carbon content of 0.62–0.70% and manganese at 0.90–1.20%, this alloy offers superior hardenability compared to plain carbon steels, allowing it to achieve higher tensile strengths (up to 980 MPa) after quenching and tempering.

The brake bands are very elastic. Then, using a rolled-up mold, they are shaped into a circle. Both ends are welded using spot welding.

Next the hand brakes need to be blakened to the surface, enhancing corrosion resistance while providing a sleek, uniform finish. For the brake ring, we'll bond a brake pad to it, which creates the necessary friction for braking. This ensures consistent contact with the drum, generating reliable frictional force to halt rotation.

After the work is completed, the two components are combined with a bolt and a spring pin.

Packing

The goods are shipped in bulk by packing them into boxes, placing the boxes on pallets, and securing them with stretch film. This packaging method balances efficiency and protection for medium to heavy loads, suitable for industrial components, machinery parts, or bulk materials.
