Custom Investment Casting Steel Seat Recliners Assembly

Product introduction

This seat recliner assembly is used for the vintage Volkswagen automotive. This is a complete set, with left and right parts that are symmetrical to each other.

Material and process

 1. The recliner arm

Here is the 3D drawings of the recliner arm:

This is consist of 2 parts, a short one and a long one. They are made by investment casting process, and painting surface finish. Here is the wax pattern of these arm:

Once the wax patterns are finished, we start tree assembling and shell making. The shell is composed of multiple layers of refractory sand, followed by sintering and pouring of molten metal, followed by metal solidification, shell removal, deburring and gate removal. Here is the rough parts after sandblasting:

2. The Bakelite knob

3. The conical spring and the bolt

The conical spring and the arriage bolts are used to install and secure the arm and knob. Since the customer has not provided specific dimensions, these components were custom-purchased after multiple trials and adjustments.
