Custom Die Casting Aluminum Table Legs and Frame

Project overview

There are some aluminum castings finished this week, the table frame and frames are one of the project.

Above pictures are one piece of the frames and legs, actually there are 4 legs and 4 pcs frames. They are will be welded togther to form a table frame, then wrapped with vines or cloth to form a table. Below is imitating the appearance of being welded together.

The length of the frame is 770mm and weighs 5.4kg, the height of the leg is 720mm and weighs 3.35 kg. Check out from the below pictures:

Material and Process

Lightweight is an important development trend in the furniture industry. Aluminum alloy combines the advantages of being strong and light at the same time, so we choose 6061 as the material for the table frame.

The die casting process requires mold making, which generally takes 4-5 weeks. After the mold is finished, we start to test the mold and make samples. Die casting process makes the internal structure of aluminum parts dense and the mechanical properties stable. Although its tensile strength and hardness are slightly lower than forged aluminum alloys, they are much higher than ordinary sand castings, and the strength can be further improved through heat treatment.

These parts are just deburred, the customers will perform the surface treatment according to there needs. The castings are very strong, but we will still check them before shipping to see if there are any bumps or damages. After checking, wrap them with several layers of foam to protect them.
